UCF Physics Department
Orlando Tech Center
Summer 2001

An introduction by Matt Tonner

The Orlando Tech Center may seem quite peaceful from the outside, but inside, it is the home to many machines and experiments and a workplace for those who make and use them. Research is done in the areas of microelectronics, seminconductors, nanostructures and interface science. Some of the machines that are used have names like "HIBS", "SIMS", "XPS", and "SEM", which you can learn about on our web pages.

I am a middle school student, and have visited the labs quite often. It is a fascinating experience to learn about the advanced technology used here, and to meet the people who build and use them.

In the Advanced Technology Laboratories, you will find many dedicated students and professors. Click on any of the names below to view their biographies.
