Transforms and Transfers

For each of the situations below, do the following:

• Specify which objects are included in the system
• List conservative interaction forces, non-conservative interaction forces, and external forces
• For each of the terms Delta KE, Delta PE, Wnc, and Wext,
  specify if the value is positive, negative, or zero
• Describe any energy trasformations that take place
• Describe any energy transfers that take place

Tables 1 & 2

1. Pushing a block across the table with constant speed (with friction).
2. Picking the block up and putting it on a ledge

Tables 3 & 4

1. After being pushed across the table, the block is let go and comes to a halt
2. Tossing the block straight up, with the toss and subsequent motion considered separately
