Giant Molecular Cloud

Giant Molecular Cloud (GMC) – A cool cloud of great size within which stars, planets, and other solar/stellar system objects are formed from material such as hydrogen and helium molecules and dust.

Compared to the diameter of stars shown in the image, the cloud is giant-sized; as shown, it contains gas and dust.
