Debris Disk
Debris Disk
Debris Disk - Collisions between forming objects, such as asteroids and protoplanets, result in debris orbiting in a disk around some stars.
This artistic representation depicts dust, boulder-sized rocky objects, and a forming extrasolar planet in this drawing of a debris disk. Insets in the upper left are Hubble Space Telescope images of debris disks around stars AU Microscopii (top left, disk shown edge-on) and HD107146 (top mid, disk shown face-on).
