Impacts on Jupiter: Past and Present

With the highly studied 1994 Shoemaker-Levy 9 impact event and the more recent (and thought to be very unlikely) impact events of 2009 and 2010, Jupiter has become a laboratory for impact studies. Using parallel processing hydrodynamics code, I have modeled cases of the 2009 impact event and have produced simulation movies of the impact. In this presentation, I will give background of the Shoemaker-Levy 9 and 2009 impact events, as well as simulation results, analyses, and comparisons of the events.
