There have been 57 Electoral Colleges. 4 occurred under the old system (prior to the ratification of the 12th Amendment) where there was no separate ballot for President and Vice-President. Of those 4, one of them (in 1800) operated de facto under the new system.
In the 4 elections of the old system, there were 954 total votes made. In the 53 elections of the new system, there have been 44,996 total votes available (22,498 each for President and Vice-President). 18 of those votes were not made and/or counted (10 for President and 8 for Vice-President) for various reasons in 6 elections:
186 men and 3 women have received electoral votes under the new system. 21 men and 0 women received electoral votes under the old system. 3 men, Charles Pinckney, Thomas Jefferson, and George Clinton, received votes under both systems. Thus, 207 people have received votes.
Below is the list of all vote-getters with their all-time
