This chamber is being reconditioned to work as a metal deposition system for thin film fabrication. The ion pump allows us to work at 10^-9 torr. Soon a turbo pump, thermal and electron beam evaporators will be installed in the chamber for growing of soft and hard metals as gold, copper, platinum, cobalt...

This chamber has been handed over by Professor Brian Tonner. Several components, such as the turbo pump and sample manipulator, have been handed over by Professor Gabriel Braunstein. This join effort will result in a micro-fabrication laboratory which includes micrometer-resolution optical lithography capabilities that will enhance the Physics Department capabilities.
