My undergraduate education was obtained at Georgetown College (Georgetown, KY) where I majored in chemistry with a minor in physics. After receiving a B.S. in 2000, I moved to Florida State University to begin graduate studies with Naresh Dalal, the Dirac Professor of Chemistry and member of the National High Magnetic Field Lab in Tallahassee. My dissertation research focused on probing the magnetic interactions and energy levels of unique low-dimensional lattices and single-molecule magnets by using heat capacity, magnetometry, and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy. After receiving my Ph.D. in physical chemistry in December 2004, I came to UCF to work as a postdoc in Prof. del Barco’s lab.
